It seems that nothing particularly important has happened that day yet.
So maybe it's time for some space art.


Chesley Bonestell (1888-1986) was an American painter, designer and illustrator who helped popularize manned space travel. A pioneering creator of astronomical art, Bonestell has been dubbed the "Father of Modern Space Art". In this painting from 1943, Saturn as seen from Mimas, Bonestell used his knowledge of astronomy to depict the ringed planet at the correct angular size from the moon's orbital distance. He celebrated his birthday on January 2. Asimov was brought to the United States with his family in 1923, and became a US citizen in 1928. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in 1939, and took a Doctor of Philosophy degree in chemistry in 1948.
