January 13

It seems that nothing particularly important has happened that day yet.
So maybe it's time for some space art.

Chesley Bonestell (1888-1986) was an American painter, designer and illustrator who helped popularize manned space travel. A pioneering creator of astronomical art, Bonestell has been dubbed the "Father of Modern Space Art". In this painting from 1943, Saturn as seen from Mimas, Bonestell used his knowledge of astronomy to depict the ringed planet at the correct angular size from the moon's orbital distance. You can even see astronauts on the surface of the moon. Image credit: Chesley Bonestell. Bonestell LLC. Listed as in Public Domain.
